Last year I made (in my opinion) a really cute "merry" banner to hang inside the house. This year I switched things up and put it outside
I cut some boughs from 2 kinds of evergreen trees from my mom's backyard and planted them in some dirt with some red glittery picks from JoAnn's.
Throw some pinecones around the tree stubs picked up after a summer storm and I've got myself a wintery nature display!
And right across this sweet nature scene is my name in LIGHTS! :)

Something that's awesome about having a coffee shop is I get a whole new space to decorate! I did some searches and found this awesome cup wreath on Twig and Thistle, which is really pretty easy to make, provided you have a lot of hot glue and a red bow from JoAnn Fabrics.
White is nice and classic, but we wanted some of our personality to shine. ThatGuy had a great idea to use our Metropolis cups to make 2 smaller wreaths.
To make these, use hot glue to attach the cups together at an angle. Just keep repeating until they make a circle!
I wrapped floral wire around the wreaths to create a loop to hook to the wall.
The customers are really into the decorations, which will hopefully translate into extra sales. :)

You saw the other day the awesome photos from Yes! Photo my brother and sister-in-law took. I took advantage of a CyberMonday sale and got some really cute Christmas photocards from Shutterfly.
They arrived a few short days later! Now I have a major job of addressing and stamping a lot of envelopes...

When I bought my condo there were many things that I wanted to replace right away. Then reality sunk in when I got my first mortgage payment. I quickly realized there are things I want to do versus things I have to do. (Boo for grown up moments!) This past weekend I finally HAD to change out my faucet because it was leaking!
Here's the offending faucet- if you look closely you can see water spraying out of the base of the faucet. That's not a good sign.
After a trip to Home Depot with my
plumber Dad, I picked out Moen's Linley kitchen faucet. My dad was super awesome and changed out the faucet. I tried to be super helpful and pass him the correct tools.

Many people have messy kitchens after the Thanksgiving meal. Here's what happened to my mom's kitchen table:
It's not dirty dishes and leftover turkey, but a whole bunch of crafting supplies!! We had our annual post-Thanksgiving Crafting Extravaganza (see here for last year's post). Sister-in-law B (from ScienceBee fame) brought some needle felting supplies and it was love at first stab.
B shared her supplies for felting- colored wool fibers, special needles and foam. Basically you stab the needs into the fibers, causing them to knot up and become hard. You can maneuver the fibers around with the needle to form different shapes.
I started out with a pompom and was impressed by B's little snowman, cardinal and baby penguin. My mom made a small snowman with a scarf!
After my pompom, I was inspired to make... a baby Penelope the bunny!
Penelope and her baby!! Clearly Penelope is excited to pose for these pictures.

Ladies and Gents, this is a monumental post! Not only will I be promoting sister-in-law B's new fabulous Etsy shop ScienceBee, but this will be my very first giveaway!
Something I really admire about B is her ability to totally rock at all things science AND all things crafty. Most people are either one or the other; B is both. She's a scientist by day wearing a lab coat and conducting experiments and then comes home and makes amazing crafts. Her shop ScienceBee is a perfect expression of this dichotomy.
B is giving not one, but two items away- and you can enter three times to win! Each time you do one of the following, leave a comment and tell me about it. The winners will be chosen using random.org.
1. Like The Science Bee on Etsy
2. Like The Science Bee on Facebook
3. Follow Storycrafting
The first item up for grabs is an adorable pair of gold button earrings. These are perfect for daily wear. The second item is a pair of neuron notecards. (see- crafts and science!)
AND to further this awesome giveaway, B is offering 15% off any item in her store by using the code "Storytime."
|(p.s. this silhouette is of little girl me from Disney in the 80's!)|
|It won't take many neurons to enter this giveaway!|
